Sleep

Research shows that getting at least 7 hours of sleep per night is linked to longer telomere length, which equates to longer lifespan. Telomeres are markers of biological aging and overall health. They are the protective ends of our DNA that naturally shorten as we age. Quality sleep is also important for maintaining healthy cortisol levels as well as other hormones. Chronic sleep deprivation may cause weight gain, memory difficulties, mood disorders and even alter immune function.
